CAliVA Root Beer Float Social

Filed under: Domesticity, Education — Allan @ 19:33:04

The CAliVA party today, was actually a root beer float social; and, I have to confess that this oncoming cold (or whatever it is) certainly had me way off my social graces game–one that I’ve never really been all that good at anyway. I tended to keep my germ-carrying-self away from close circulation with folks; out of both a sense of a sense of bio-hazard responsibility, and a general feeling of “yuckiness.”

Lisa Watson introduced herself to a number of us, and I introduced her to Anya and Lia. Chat ensued as I observed more people show up than I had anticipated; including a couple of families also in attendance at the Torrance back to school night. Quite a good grouping of folks for a midday function such as this.

The real point of this function seems to have been largely achieved: The kids had a chance to run around and interact with each other in a reasonably safe setting, and the adults did some minor networking.

Mrs. Watson’s husband–so I am told–did put in an appearance with his police car, as a light flashing treat for the children. They were quite pleased, if their wandering conversations are to be given any credence.

Thanks to the efforts of the CAliVA folks, this appears to have been a nice function for both the children and their parents. (I do anticipate more interaction with other families, as the academic year progresses, when I’m feeling much more human.)
