CAliVA Computer (First Shipment)
Regarding the provided computer, here’s a look at the general set-up that you’ll receive; which amounts to your basic, Pent-3, enterprise desktop configuration:
- 2 - power cords
- 1 - pots cord for the modem
- 1 - speaker set
- 1 - mouse
- 1 - keyboard
- 1 - monitor
- 1 - system unit with a 3.25″ floppy and a CD-ROM drive
These aren’t bad little machines at all. I have a few of these low-profile affairs, wearing different brand names, all sporting some flavor of Linux. It should fulfill the duty of having a windoze machine, dedicated to the OLS, quite well.
I do have an available network adapter connector (upper right-hand corner of the bottom image); so, if it’s not static-zapped, I won’t have to open-up the chassis and add a NIC.
Now I’m wondering how best to address the problem of what to do with the monitor (the box is huge), because I really don’t need that chunk of hardware sitting around the house. I might end-up asking CAliVA to send everything but the chassis back to the warehouse, in Sparks, Nevada.
