Google
"mexican coke" and you will find a host of articles mentioning three truths:
(1.) Coca-Cola made with real cane sugar tastes better.
(2.) American Coca-Cola bottlers deny this truth because using high fructose corn sweetener is cheaper than using cane sugar.
(3.) American Coca-Cola bottlers don't want you drinking Mexican Coke.
Another fact not revealed by the search results is this: Corporate America does business by regularly lying to consumers. Corporate America has zero credibility.
Google
"high fructose corn syrup" mercury and you will discover another truth:
Almost half of tested samples of commercial high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) contained mercury, which was also found in nearly a third of 55 popular brand-name food and beverage products where HFCS is the first- or second-highest labeled ingredient, according to two new U.S. studies.
'Nuff said on that count.
We, as a family, avoid any product containing
HFCS; because we count as credible the earlier evidence which shows HFCS to be harmful to human health, not to mention the fact that HFCS-free foods and beverages taste better. We no longer buy any soft drink containing HFCS--believe me, we are religious about checking labels for the express absence of HFCS and express use of cane sugar--and encourage you to do similarly.
Note to The Coca-Cola Co.:
You'd do well to return to the exclusive use of cane sugar to sweeten your products.
Needless to say, the issue of mercury in HFCS deepens our resolve to boycott all HFCS-containing products; so, you'll find several recipes here, in the coming days and months, which are designed to break your dependence upon commercially produced foods which typically contain HFCS.
