Donations

Our perspective on donations can be fairly summed-up as follows:
The Internet has its origins in academia, and Allan prefers to keep our contributions as close to the original philosophy that he was exposed to when he first (1978) participated in "The 'Net" which is, simply put, as follows: Knowledge, per se, belongs to the public at large, for the simple reason that its discovery, development and further refinement has been funded by the taxes we have paid, and continue to pay.

The acquisition of knowledge should not be a pursuit that is marred by pop-up, animated, flashing, in your face advertising; nor should any citizen have to pay--directly or indirectly--for access to the knowledge they already own. This ideally includes Primary, Secondary and Post-Secondary education.

Inasmuch as advertising is anathema to the academician; you will, therefore, see very little advertising, per se, on any of our web sites. The content-based ads at the bottom of each page are just about all you'll see; outside of the personal advocacy of certain Free (libre/gratis) and Open Source Operating Systems and programs.

Every cent necessary to offer Gabston-Howell.org--along with its affilaited sites, sub-domains and parallel service offerings--to the public; comes out of the single-income budget from which seven family members must eat, live indoors and educate themselves. As inconvenient as the aggregate task can be at times, we do consider this to be our moral imperative.

While it is our intent to expand and improve what we offer to you, the public, it is unlikely that our income and expense picture will change radically; something we are certain is true for many of you.

We will continue to do what we do; while gently letting you know that needs do, logically, exist. If we have helped you in some measure, please consider reciprocating in a manner that is within your means to do so.

Please note that there are donation links at the side of each page to allow you to conveniently donate to our efforts--should you feel that this is something you would like to do.

If you would like to help in other ways, please consult our Services page.
